Scholarships & Fellowships for Undergraduates
The following is a list of scholarships and fellowships offered by UNLV and other institutions. Each scholarship has its own deadline and qualifications.
UNLV Maura Susan Kaufman Scholarship
Qualifications:
- Be an admitted undergraduate or graduate student
- GPA of 3.0 or higher
- Demonstrated financial need
- Completed on-line Scholarship Application
UNLV Donald L. Wood Scholarship
Qualifications:
- Be an admitted undergraduate English major
- Must be an in-state student
- GPA of 3.0 or higher
- Demonstrated financial need
- Completed on-line Scholarship Application
Preference will be given to student(s) with an interest in English literature, creative writing or poetry. Two scholarships of $500 each are available. Students who wish to apply for the Maura Susan Kaufman Scholarship or Donald L. Wood Scholarship should submit to Dr. Richard Harp, Chair of the UNLV English Department, a letter of application in which they mention their degree program status and their GPA. When submitting their application letter, students should include one writing sample, preferably a graded paper from an upper division/graduate English course.
The deadline for applying for the fall award is April 18. Decision will be made by the Chair in consultation with the Department's Advisory Committee.
