- Congratulations to Ph.D. student Laura Powell, for her full scholarship to the summer studies program of the Cornell School of Criticism and Theory.
- Congratulations to Ph.D. student Amy Green! She has accepted a teaching position at the Meadows private school in Las Vegas, beginning next fall. The Meadows wanted to hire a PhD and are offering Amy an excellent salary, comparable to that of an assistant professor at a college/university in the current job market.
- Congratulations to Maile Chapman, Schaeffer Ph.D. Fellow in the Department of English. Her first novel, "Your Presence Is Requested At Suvantro" will be published by Graywolf Press in Spring, 2010. Graywolf Press is one of the premier literary presses in America, with its books currently distributed by Farrar, Strauss & Giroux.
- Congratulations to Jessica McCall for being featured in the 20th Anniversary Popular Culture Review. Her article is titled V for Vendetta: A Graphic Retelling of Macbeth.
- Congratulations to Tony Patricia for also being included in the 20th Anniversary Popular Culture Review featuring his book reviews of Christmas Island: An Anthropological Study and Taking South Park Seriously edited by Jeffrey Andrew Weinstock.
- Congratulations to Ph.D. (2007) Vu Tran (currently a P.T.I. for our department): His 2008 story, "This or Any Desert," has been selected for inclusion in the Best American Mysteries 2009 anthology.
- Congratualtions to Anthony Patricia whose combined book review of "Shakespeare and Elizabethan Popular Culture" and "The Cambridge Companion to Shakespeare and Popular Culture" appears in the Popular Culture Review, Vol 19, No 1, Winter 2008.
- Congratulations to Heather Lusty, who was selected as a recipient of the UNLV Barrick Fellowship for the 2007-08 academic year.
- Congratulations to Vu Tran, who received the College of Arts and Sciences "Outstanding Dissertation" award.
- Congratulations to Juan Martinez for the publication of his essay "Souvenirs from Ganymede" which appears in River Teeth, Vol 8, No 2, Spring 2007.
- Congratualtions to Anthony Patricia whose book review of "Milton in Popular Culture, a collection of essays edited by Laura Lunger Knoppers and Gregory M. Colon Semenza," appears in the Popular Culture Review, Vol 18, No 2, Summer 2007.
