The Society for Technical Communication (STC) sponsors two student honor societies.

  • Sigma Tau Chi (STX) for students in baccalaureate or graduate programs.
  • Alpha Sigma (AS) for those in two-year or certificate programs.

Both societies recognize technical communication students who have

  1. a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.5,
  2. an exemplary record of participation in STC, and
  3. the proven potential to make significant contributions to the profession.

Students who are accepted into Sigma Tau Chi or Alpha Sigma receive one year's membership in STC, a pin, and a t-shirt.

Applications to these societies must be submitted electronically by November 1, 2006. See the STC website for the application form and instructions: http://www.stc.org/recog/awards01_STX-AS.asp
