Scholarships & Fellowships

 

Rogers Fellowship

The Rogers Fellowship is available to those with either a BA or an MA degree in English. For those with a BA the Fellowship provides five years of support, with an annual stipend of $25,000 and payment of all tuition, fees, and health insurance; for those with an MA the same support is provided for three years. Two years of the Fellowship are non-teaching years for BA students; one year of the Fellowship is a non-teaching year for those with an MA. For more information go to the Rogers Fellowship page.

 

UNLV Maura Susan Kaufman Scholarship

Qualifications:

 

 

 

 

 

 

Preference will be given to student(s) with an interest in English literature, creative writing or poetry. Two scholarships of $500 each are available. Students who wish to apply for the Maura Susan Kaufman Scholarship or Donald L. Wood Scholarship should submit to Dr. Douglas Unger, Chair of the UNLV English Department, a letter of application in which they mention their degree program status and their GPA. When submitting their application letter, students should include one writing sample, preferably a graded paper from an upper division/graduate English course.

The deadline for applying for the fall award is April 18. Decision will be made by the Chair in consultation with the Department's Advisory Committee.

 

 

 

 

Barnes & Noble Book Scholarship at UNLV

Qualifications:

  • Student in UNLV's College of Liberal Arts
  • Academic Excellence
  • Demonstrated financial need

 

 

 

 

Two or three book scholarships will be awarded, each for $135 or $90 respectively, to be applied to books/supplies at the UNLV bookstore. Submit nominee names and student ID to Dr. Douglas Unger.
