Dr. Tillery joined the UNLV English department UNLV in 2004, after 5 years
at Oklahoma State University, where she directed the Technical Writing
Program. Her interests include gender and the history of scientific rhetoric,
environmental rhetoric, and ethics and technical communication. She has
published on Margaret Cavendish, the plain style movement of the early
Royal Society, and the rhetoric of anti-nuclear activists. Currently, Dr.
Tillery is engaged in a long-term research project on the rhetoric surrounding
the controversial Yucca Mountain Project, a planned high-level nuclear
waste repository here in Nevada. She teaches classes in business and professional
writing, rhetoric, and environmental writing; and before finishing her
PhD, she spent five years as a technical writer, working at Sandia and
Los Alamos National Labs.
