Dr. Stitt specializes in the field of Folklore. He recently returned from six months in Bulgaria where he taught folklore at the University of Sophia as a Senior Fulbright Scholar. While there, Dr. Stitt did extensive fieldwork in the Rhodope, including a video documentary on the region's distinctive musical instrument, the kaba-gida. In 2006, Dr. Stitt was awarded UNLV's College of Liberal Arts' Schmeidel Service Award.
