THE SPEAK EASY

The annual Las Vegas Slam Contest was held on Saturday, 15 April 2000 at the friendly Barnes and Noble store on the corner of Lake Mead and Rainbow. Virgil was our friendly host and some of the finest local poets turned out to compete. The judge panel was eclectic, consisting of a BN representative, a couple of passers by, and a trio of friends of some of the participants. Thus fair judging was ensured. I have asked participants to submit some of their slam poems and those will be added as they come in. Here is a list of the participants:
