Jan Ashman
My name is Jan Ashman. I moved here from the Boston area three years ago. My first Open Mike was at the Harvard Coop, Harvard University's bookstore, in Cambridge, MA. After moving here and discovering the strong poetry "movement", I was in heaven! I've been writing since high school and continue to write for the love of it, though now I would relish being published in chapbook form. I look forward to continued participation in Las Vegas' many poetry venues.
You change faces
Like phases of the moon
Coming in and going out,
Your light sometimes ashen
Blue; drawn by many
And quartered.
You cannot yet know
Where you fit, Child, or
When you will find that
Mountain to linger above
In your travels, lighting
Up shadows.
You will walk into
Your outline and wander
With it, only turning
Back to verify that you are
Now steadfastly attached to
Your footsteps.
